It is mostly known for being the mailing address for Walt Disney World although almost all of the resort facilities, including all four infamous parks, are physically positioned in the adjoining town/city of Bay Lake.

It is one of two Florida municipalities controlled by The Walt Disney Company, the other being Bay Lake.

The permanent residentiary populace of Lake Buena Vista was 10 at the 2010 census. Lake Buena Vista is part of the Orlando Kissimmee Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Soon after, the City of Reedy Creek was retitled to the City of Lake Buena Vista to better reflect its new location, through which Reedy Creek did not flow.

"Buena Vista" comes from the name of the street in Burbank, California, where the Walt Disney Company is headquartered.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District had all the powers of the town/city and more, raising the questions of why metros/cities needed to be incorporated inside it.

The only inhabitants of the town/city are Disney employees and their immediate family members who live in a small improve on Royal Oak Court, north of Disney Springs.

Lake Buena Vista is positioned at 28 22 39 N 81 31 18 W (28.377362, -81.521728). According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 3.1 square miles (8.0 km2), of which 3.0 square miles (7.7 km2) is territory and 0.12 square miles (0.3 km2) (4.02%) is water. The only long-term inhabitants in Bay Lake live in a mobile home park on Little Lake Bryan, which, in 1987, had nine mobile homes.

As of that year many employees wished to live in Bay Lake or Lake Buena Vista due to their adjacency to their jobs.
