A postal service called Dundee has been in operation since 1912. The town was titled after Dundee, in Scotland. Dundee was incorporated as a town in 1925. Dundee is positioned at 28 1 15 N 81 37 15 W (28.020837, -81.620783). According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town has a total region of 4.3 square miles (11 km2), of which 3.9 square miles (10 km2) is territory and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2) (8.82%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,912 citizens , 1,123 homeholds, and 811 families residing in the town.

The ethnic makeup of the town was 69.92% White, 22.05% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.93% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.56% from other competitions, and 1.37% from two or more competitions.

SR 542 - Also called Dundee Road, it leads from downtown Dundee to US 27 and on westward, straight to downtown Winter Haven.
