It is the governmental center of county of Pasco County. Dade City is positioned in the Tampa Bay Area.

Dade City is positioned at 28 21 42 N 82 11 36 W. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 3.4 square miles (8.8 km2), of which 3.3 square miles (8.5 km2) is territory and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (2.96%) is water.
